After Abhishek Bachchan who has lost 14 kgs to look like Mani Ratnam’s on -the-run fugitive in his new film, it’s Mani’s earlier favourite Madhavan who is required to undergo a physical melting-down.

And it’s not for the love of Mani. It’s for Raj Kumar Hirani.

Apparently, Hirani has asked all his three leading men Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi and Madhavan to “look like IIT students.”

The interpretation of that instruction has been left to the individual actors. Says a source, “Aamir will lose some of that aggressively muscular look that he has acquired for Ghajini. He needs too look leaner and more athletic, as he did in Dil Chahta Hai. Playing a student at 40-plus won’t be difficult for Aamir. He has done so in Rang De Basanti with great success. Sharman doesn’t need to lose any weight. He looks completely in character. Madhavan needs to look more toned.”

Madhavan who has temporarily shifted base to Mumbai to seriously pursue a career in Hindi cinema, has taken off for two weeks to Ashford in the UK to work on his physique for the role in 3 Idiots.

Speaking from London Maddy says, “My sister lives here in Ashford and there’re very good health clinics here. Whenever I need to change around my metabolism or rework my physique for a role I head for Ashford. And at the moment I’m re-working my physique to look like a student. ”

A time -frame has been set for each of the actors to get into the shape they think right for their characters.

Says Madhavan, “It’s not about looking thinner or younger. All three of us need to look convincing as IIT students. How we choose to do so has been left to us.”

Madhavan returns in two weeks to resume the shooting of Teen Patti which got suspended when the Big B fell ill. He gets emotional. “It was scary how suddenly he took ill. We really don’t care about the delay. All we want is for Amitji to be perfectly recovered again.”

I think he should become like this as student again:))

Here are some exclusive pictures from the shooting of Aamir Khan’s Ghajini. Though the pictures do not look impressive, we hope that they come out better after digital processing in the post production.

Ghajini is a physcological thriller and has Aamir Khan, Asin ( South actress) and Jiah Khan. The movie is inspired from the cult English classic, Memento.

New Delhi, Nov 1 (IANS) Bollywood star Aamir Khan’s belief that people across the globe react to some films in the same way was reaffirmed when his film got a standing ovation from the audience present at a special screening in Seattle.

Aamir’s directorial debut, “Taare Zameen Par”, which released in India Dec 21, 2007, moved the audience with its sensitive subject of an eight-year-old dyslexic boy and a teacher, played by Aamir, bringing the child out of his predicament.

The film drew a similar response in Seattle Oct 29, where it was being screened for the annual conference of the International Dyslexia Association.

“Everyone just loved the film and it had struck a really deep chord,” Aamir wrote on his blog www.aamirkhan.com/blog.

“In fact the reaction was exactly as it had been with audiences back home in India. It really amazes me how people from all across the world react to some films in pretty much the same way, which reaffirms the fact of how similar we all are no matter which part of the globe we come from,” he added.

According to the actor, there were 200 members, mostly American, who were present at the screening that took place in a conference room instead of a cinema hall.

Aamir writes that he was really nervous in the presence of dyslexia experts and “kept squirming”, wishing that he could disappear into his seat.

“And then finally the film got over and the lights came on to an absolutely thunderous standing ovation!” added Aamir.

“My god, it was so moving. I was so overwhelmed. Then I came forward for the questions and answers and saw the tears streaming down the cheeks of the audience. I can’t tell you how happy I was to see so many people cry!” said he.

Aamir, who is now looking forward to the release of his film “Ghajini”, also shared that most members of the audience had expressed a desire to have the film “re-released in the US theatres, this time for the mainstream American audience”.

After winning several awards in India, “Taare Zameen Par” has also been selected as India’s entry for the Oscar 2009 in the best foreign film category.
